What is a patch test? Following and in-depth consultation your practitioner will make an assessment of the treatment and program you will require ( typically 4-6 sessions).  Before the first session a patch test will be undertaken to assess your skin's reactions and enable the practitioner to deliver the safest and most effective settings for your skin type and condition. This is usually completed a minimum of 48 hours before the actual treatment. If your consultation and history does not preclude you from treatment, we will carry out a patch test. Approximately 4-6 test shots are applied at various machine settings. This enables your practitioner to discover the specific machine settings which are most effective and safe for you and ensure that the treatment minimises any discomfort  We will see how your skin reacts during the patch test, and over the next 24 hours (up to 7 days for some treatments and skin types). On the day the skin is cleansed in an are close to the proposed area of treatment. You will be given some protective eyewear to wear for the duration.  In some cases, a conducting clear gel is applied to the area to enhance the energy penetration and to provide surface cooling for the tissue. The hand piece is applied to the skin and a shot will be fired. This feels similar to a small elastic band being pinged against the skin with a small amount of heat. The handset may feel cold as it has additional cooling to protect the skin further  The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood or pigmentation it is applied to.  The session and consultation takes 20-40 minutes in total. During the week after the treatment you may find some flaking as the surface regenerates and over time collagen is produced, resulting in long term rejuvenation.  You may be required to attend for a review or submit pictures to assess the results over the coming days. This may take place on the day of the proposed treatment. The cost of face to face consultation is £25 and the patch test is a further £25. Should you wish to proceed with treatment/be suitable, then £50 will be credited to your account.

Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 48 hours before the start time; otherwise, you may lose your deposit. This is to ensure we keep our clinic running smoothly for all our customers wanting to book in also.
